The Pennsylvania Preparedness Leadership Institute (PPLI) is a collaborative effort between the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Public Health Preparedness (UPCPHP).

PPLI offers two Programs-
Regional and Advanced

All applicants accepted for attendance receive full scholarships. Scholars attending represent public health, public safety, emergency management, emergency medical services and healthcare providers.


Features of the Leadership Institute Training

  1. Customized training based on unique needs of each region
  2. Interdisciplinary training groups from each region Special projects are selected by each region based on their priorities for bioterrorism preparedness
  3. Held in conjunction with the Department of Health's Public Health Institute
  4. Tuition, travel expenses, lodging, meals, speaker fees, and curriculum development funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
